Position Description:

This is a Lead Engineer role within the Virtual Manufacturing Engineering department, with responsibilities for Tooling Strategy & Design deliverables, in support of the companies programmes from initial concept phase, through to delivery. Virtual Manufacturing Engineering is part of the Dimensional Control & Build Integrity (DCBI) department within Manufacturing Engineering. It is responsible for providing product and process design & feasibility through the use of virtual manufacturing toolsets and methods, supporting the optimisation of the manufacturing process, tooling and facility from concept through to delivery. The Virtual Manufacturing model develops alongside process planning and product development, in-line with PCDS timing, resulting in a complete working 3D production facility, prior to installation and launch. This activity supports manufacturing targets for cost, quality, safety, Bill of Process compliance, equipment utilisation and maintenance

Skills Required:

Lead Concept design for BIW assembly tooling (geometry and re-spot fixtures, grippers, transfer, put-down and take-out tooling) Lead Concept design for Cladding and Trim & Final Jigs & Fixtures Lead Locator strategy planning for BIW single panel gauging, assembly and assembly gauging

Experience Required:

Demonstrable understanding and awareness of BIW & T&F assembly process Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of BIW & T&F tooling design principals Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of locator strategy principals Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principals Demonstrable experience of solving complex technical ideas and challenges Proven experience of working in cross-functional teams Demonstrable skilled experience in using Catia V5 ¿ Assembly Design Demonstrable skilled experience in using MS Office

Experience Preferred:

Experience in using Team Centre Engineering Experience in using Catia V6 ¿ Assembly Design Experience in continuous improvements to business processes Experience in project management and internalPCDS process Experience in Team leadership role Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
