Position Description:

The role is the principal structural engineer for Manufacturing Engineering and will be responsible for all aspects of Structural and other non-load bearing steelwork engineering aligned to the scope of manufacturing engineering which is the entire process chain of a vehicle as well as some ancillary and support functions like product engineering. Structural engineers are primarily concerned with designing and manufacturing structures that are safe and meet the customer brief while being economical. Responsible for: Mechanical Design Project & Site Management Mechanical Manufacture & Installation Mechanical Commissioning Spares Strategy Maintenance Strategy

Skills Required:

Substantial experience in structural design work including: prepare, interpret and read workshop/design drawings and direct the design of the relevant components for cutting and folding in line with best practise manufacture. A deep understanding of the joining techniques required. Demonstrated ability to develop the calculations necessary to deliver the structures to a safe standard. Selection of appropriate construction materials as well as the protection thereof. Liaise with facility designers and architects alike. Running contract management and contractor management to monitor manufacture and snagging of fabs. Demonstrate track record of quality and health & safety and ensuring that standards and procedures are adhered to. Sound commercial acumen and cost awareness with the ability to add value and minimise cost. The ability to plan ahead, organise workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines

Experience Required:

Comprehensive knowledge of the latest regulatory and statutory regulation, the likes of IEE Wiring Regulations, PUWER, LOLA, PC, etc. 10 years experience of electrical design in more than three of the following disciplines: HV distribution, LV distribution systems, lighting, controls power, Control LV systems, PLC hardware, PLC software. 10 years experience of electrical project & site management. Familiar with running large and complex electrical and or automation projects to a very tight timescales and to high standards of site installation. 10 years experience of electrical project commissioning. Familiar with commissioning and handing over large and complex electrical and or automation projects in a manufacturing environment. Achieving throughput metrics and quality standards.

Experience Preferred:

Comprehensive knowledge of the IEE Wiring Regulations and holding a Regulations + Test and inspection certificate. Holding a current HV certificate. Qualified to Authorized or Senior Authorized to isolate HV supplies Experience in CE marking of design and product. Experience of acting as the Principal Contractor and a full understanding of the responsibilities under this role. Experience in HV distribution, the design, installation and commissioning of such systems. Experience to design deliver and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS), outside of SCADA or Facmon.
