Position Title: Facilities Development and Construction Engineer – Building and Construction
General Building Senior Engineer: The role of Construction Engineer for Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for managing facility construction projects, globally, across this major automotive OEMs manufacturing sites. Working across RIBA stages 0-7, the you will be lead the construction management aspects of our projects and be responsible for the successful, timely and cost-effective delivery of these projects within our global construction and facility projects that will include product implementation programmes, technology innovation, legacy facility improvement projects and capital investment projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential: Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction/built environment discipline. Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS). Construction Skills Certificate Scheme Gold card. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD. 5 years recent UK experience managing live projects with experience across all construction types. 5 years experience of working on large UK projects, preferably in the core sectors to the business of Manufacturing, Logistics and Commercial. Extensive construction industry experience of new-build, refurbishment and extension schemes across all RIBA stages. Ability to interpret engineer/designer notes and sketches for incorporation into design documents is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Continued Essential: Extensive experience leading construction projects in the role of construction site manager. Extensive engineering and manufacturing background with previous experience in Facilities Development. Proven experience and an understanding of facilities processes, equipment and leading technologies. Experience within the Facilities development across a variety of industries and geographies. Proven experience of contract and performance management and management of Services Level Agreements. Experience of FMEA tools, reliability and maintainability principals and an understanding of the environmental impacts of engineering solutions. Business transformational and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Experience in managing external service providers. Thorough understanding of Engineering/Manufacturing Processes, Tools and Techniques. Demonstrable and experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving.
Working knowledge and experience of delivering safety metrics and the understanding safety systems applicable to plant & equipment. Proven ability to work within tight deadlines & be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously. Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety and ergonomics including risk assessments. Ability to make short presentations to work groups and senior management Demonstrable knowledge of Legislative and Industry Standards in Automotive Microsoft package elements Power Point and Excel Thorough Understanding and Application of Lean Tools and Techniques Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proven Project Management experience. Experience of working in partnership with a Trade Union Flexibility to be able to operate across all JLR locations, which on some occasions may result in significant time (several weeks) overseas or away from home. An individual who is not fazed by an ever-changing environment with daily challenges and unpredictable daily hours, prepared to work weekends and the hours necessary to support operations. Desirable: Chartered Professional (e.g. MCIOB, MRICS) or similar. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field. APMP, PMP or similar project management qualification. Knowledge and practical experience of National Building Specification (NBS) software.
